I purchased Paul Brodie's book, San Diego, because I had a hard time finding good restaurants when I visited a few years ago and wanted to learn where I should have eaten. Mr. Brodie shared with much detail and enthusiasm why he chose each restaurant he included, descriptions of the experience, and photos of the food.Reading his recommendations and comments, I know my trip would have been a more positive and tasty experience than it was. Instead, I got stuck eating in terrible tourist spots or wandering around aimlessly trying to find something decent to eat. Because of this, San Diego got a bum rap in my mind, and I considered the trip a dud. After reading Mr. Brodie's book, I realize it wasn't that San Diego didn't have a great food, it was that I didn't do the appropriate research to find it.It's time for me to give San Diego another chance with Mr. Brodie (and his mom) as my food guide, and with that, I highly recommend this book for anyone who will be traveling to San Diego. Don't leave home without it!
I really enjoyed this guide to San Diego. It has a lot of great information for your next visit to this area. I love that Paul gives you lots of restaurants at reasonable price points as well as a splurge, have to agree, that place is so worth it for brunch. Lots of fun tips and ideas for exploring San Diego and its surrounding areas. I love how Paul writes, it feels like a friend giving you advice for your trip. The pictures are an added bonus, including of the meals he and his mother had. Buy this book, you won't be disappointed having it along to make your trip to San Diego a fun one. Keep up the good work!
Great book that I will use for my next San Diego trip. I have a trip planned soon for SD and this book is great because it's short and sweet. I don't want to have to read a giant travel manual filled with stuff I won't use. Paul Brodie gets straight to the point and offers up restaurant and sightseeing info that is helpful. Contains discount codes too which is awesome.
San Diego is a lovely read. Paul writes in a way that I felt invited by him and his Mom to come along on their San Diego trip. And I must say that I enjoyed it immensely. Found myself salivating at the descriptions of the yummy meals and felt like packing my bags and booking the trip now to check it out for real! Highly recommend for all armchair travelers as well as real life adventurers.
What a great way to learn about San Diego before I go there. The author adds lots of pictures, examples, and suggestions of things to do. One thing I would like to see added is something for children. Since I have 4, I know they would love most of the things listed in this book but maybe some more specific things for kids. It was a good read though and worth the money.
Contains some very little helpful information about San Diego, but mostly served as a long advertisement for the author's self-publishing business.
This is an amazing read and a guild line for when you visit San Diego. Paul really knows his stuff about healthy-eating and lifestyle. I've read his books in the past and none of them have fallen short of 5-stars.
