BOB BEDORE has been doing theater for the past 24 years, has toured as a stand-up comedian, hosted a live Saturday morning kids show, spent a dozen years as a radio disc jockey, appeared in movies, and has owned and operated several theaters. He has also written 20 plays and a few screenplays. In 1994 Bob founded an improv comedy troupe, Quick Wits. I taught an improv class for the first time to high school age students and this book was indispensable. The lists of games work for all ages and it provided my students with many choices each day.

I would have bought a different book, but this one has a good set of starter improv exercises, so I can use it with children.

This has some great suggestions for how to implement improv in the classroom, and it lists some great games. Some of the games and the way they are written were difficult to understand.

Use this book with older students and they enjoy the activities.

I teach sales management at the university and wanted to incorporate more improv activities into our class to help my students improve their communication skills. This book was very helpful, and the students enjoyed many of the activities I pulled from it.

Never thought a book about organizing would be interesting, hilarious, beautiful, and life changing...but this one is. A pantry can be functional AND PRETTY. Taking everything out of cardboard boxes and placing them in labeled baskets and lucite turn tables? Yes please. Never have I ever taken such joy in putting an “every day” drawer together in my bathroom for eye pleasing grab and go items. The labels included in the book are upping my fridge game. Now even my coffee table is prettier with the rainbow tabbbed pages in the book! Thanks for making my house pretty and organized. Well. Done. Ladies. 👏🏻🌈

The book itself has many attractive photos. Essentially it is a book of organized spaces with suggestions. I enjoy books like this more for their inspiration than for concrete suggestions. My main disappointment is that even though the book was shrink-wrapped, there were no refrigerator labels. I know it isn't the end of the world, but when you look at the back of the book and it says "includes a starter set of labels" and the labels are mentioned in the book, that is a source of frustration.

I loved this book! It is organized by area-such as-the refrigerator, under the sink, the closet, the pantry. Not only does it spell out good ideas, but each section has lots of beautiful pictures! And since none of us have the same size pantry, closet, laundry room-it shows all different types-from “to die for laundry rooms” to a basic laundry room. Fun book to get great ideas!!!!

As someone who struggles with organization with a house of 4 kids I was so excited to get this book. However, I feel like I’m just looking at a collaboration of instagram inspirational photos telling me what everything is when I can clearly see that with the labels on everything. The biggest downfall for me is that there is no buying guide, like what’s the name of the bin, label, drawer etc. At least on Instagram you can ask questions and find out or they link the containers. I bought this book to help me organize and they have awesome organizational skills and it is funny I just would love to be able to look in the book and find the things that would fit my organizational need and then know where to go, or what to buy.

Don't think twice about buying this book. I recieved my copy today and I'm only a few pages in and I'm already obsessed. I know I'll be partially neglecting my children to read it all day. #lowbarlifestyle 😂 The kids will thank me when I no longer have to specify where every single item goes in my house, because they'll finally KNOW! So excited! The book also comes with labels that are so beautiful and I can't wait to use them!

This book is as beautiful as it is helpful! They do a fantastic job not just showing their organization creations, but also explaining how on earth to get there. I can't wait to make a stop at the container store and get started on my house! I also appreciated the section on how to achieve long term success, as I feel that's where many of us falter. Will update after I put this book to use.

I can't wait to read it cover to cover (when my kids go to bed). However, my daughter, that is 7, is very much interested in the kids play areas (and everything so colorful and ROYGBIV) and now wants to rip apart the house and start organizing! I was so afraid she was going to rip the pages while she was "tearing through" the book. I asked her if she could describe it in one word and she said "Pretty." and I will totally agree with her that it certainly is pretty and is now in my possession( and I clearly can't just use one word to describe it because I am a hoarder)! I also want to say that you have an amazing Instagram and I LOVE your stories but having your book in print in my home as a guide and to get our home in order just proves that it is extremely important to have tangible, beautiful pages to look through. I love Queen and I adore Freddie but I must say that this particular biography just isn't grabbing my interest. It's just so strangely written that I'm having a hard time getting through it. Phoebe's book gives a more personal look at the MAN who was Freddie Mercury and I couldn't put that one down. I know that this book is a different kind of book than Phoebe's and that would be okay -- but somehow this author has made this story somewhat uninteresting. How do you do that when you are writing about such a fascinating subject as Freddie Mercury??? I don't think Freddie would approve. After all, it was Freddie who said, "Make what you want of my legacy but don't make it boring!" Admittedly, I am not that far into this book. But that's the problem -- I just can't seem to get motivated to keep plowing through it.However it's better than Jim Hutton's book. Hutton attempted to make HIMSELF the hero of Freddie's story while betraying his friend's most intimate secrets in the process. Not to mention, Hutton's horrible, totally unnecessary gossipy details of Freddie's sad death. That kind of behavior is not love. No one who really loves someone would betray them like that.Reading about Freddie is a conundrum...one wants to get to know the real man a bit better but certainly without intruding on such a private man's final, most personal moments. Coming across such disrepectful, gossipy tidbits about someone who was so shy and private in his personal life almost makes me ashamed for reading the danged thing in the first place. Freddie, however, can rest in peace in knowing that nothing the gossips and titallators ever say will take away from the fact that he was (and still is) the greatest showman and most incredible voice in rock history! Sorry, that's just my humble opinion from reading the two books.

Clearly, writing about FB/FM is challenging as he was the Great Pretender. I liked that this book was written by a music-writing professional, rather than by an FB/FM intimate violating FB/FM's trust. The downside of this is, at times, the writer goes off on tangents that I found more proving of expertise than relevant. Also, it makes for a bit of a cold read. I liked the first part of the book, which focuses on three key elements: Live Aid, Mary Austin, and the rise of Queen. I eventually gave up on the book as it becomes an ongoing story of a brilliant, uniquely talented man with wealth and fame, who doesn't seem to know how to find happiness.

After trudging through 127 pages of this bio I had to call it quits. Everything in me wanted to like this book, but ultimately I couldn't take anymore. I'm not sure how one can make a story about one of the most interesting characters in human history boring, but this author accomplishes it.My main issue with the book is how scattered and confusing it is. So much time is spent listing random characters who have no significant impact in the story, and are nothing more than a bullet point, that you end up losing where in the narrative you actually are. Details are given to these irrelevant items at the expense of the true story, Mercury and the band. I've gone back three times into the book to find where the author tells about Queen finally arriving, and I can't find that moment.The book felt like the author did an incredible amount of research, laid all her notes out, and then decided to just randomly bullet point every single note she had (didn't want to offend anyone by leaving something out). Because of this there is no rhythm to the book, and the story of Freddie Mercury and Queen is swallowed by clunky writing.

Some reviewers have complained that the author “spent too much time” rebutting untruths that grow up like weeds and vines and become entwined into the lives of famous people. I think Ms. Jones does us all a great service by cutting these back and presenting a Freddie known by his friends, band mates, and the author and other colleagues.Her research is outstanding. I do wish there were more first person accounts from the ‘lost weekend’ years in Munich, and I did get the sense that Jones had to be nice to Mary Austin to get some access (Austin still comes off not as well as she may think she does because of the way she treated Freddie’s friends and lovers after his death.All in all, though, this is a fine piece of research, written in an elegant, flowing style. If you’ve seen the movie Bohemian Rhapsody year you’ll note that its basic construction (starting with the pinnacle of the Live Aid performance and then flashing back) follows the construction of Jones’ excellent book.

I'm a huge Freddie Mercury fan and this book does a very nice job without all the drama. Freddie was a generous genius and this book highlights both of these characteristics. It's nice to see writing that focuses on the importance of Freddie's work rather than his sexuality. After all, it's no one's business who Freddie, or anyone else, had intimate relations with. He was happy and he made other people happy. What else matters?

Very interesting book. Reading about Freddie is like a movie you love where the ending is sad. Yet, you keep wanting to see it again and again for the great parts. This answered any questions I ever had about if he did drugs. how he acted privately, personal meanings behind some of his songs, his relation with Mary (after their romance ended), how close he was to Jim, and struggles he had in relationships where he was taken advantage of. We are all human and this helps add another dimension of him most of us never knew, since we never knew him personally. Great read and worth the money.

I chose this rating because it is a fantastic work and portrays the use and wackiness of the Double Cross system with a wealth of sources. The book revolves around 5-6 different spies, keeping the text from going stagnant. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys World War II, especially in things that may be considered forgotten details, or someone who enjoys learning about the War but not individual troop movements. The tone is upbeat, often humorous, and does not delve into bore. I enjoyed that the spotlight shone on the figures that Macintyre chose, whether they played into Operation Bodyguard or not. While many agents were involved, those brought to the center by Macintyre truly enrich the stories involved.

This is not a novel. Though there are a few James-Bondish characteristics to a couple of the principles, it's more of dry re-telling of "double-agent" realities from WWII, at least those being 'run' by British Secret Service, primarily in continental Europe (and a few in Russia). This is not to say boring, far from it. I was totally compelled to keep reading it, once i started. A lot of things are bought up here that you probably never heard before, such as the source of the term "Double Cross".Though this brand of espionage apparently served the Allies quite well, one of the main tensions in the book is how the whole program was often hanging by the thread of a spider-web. Plus, not everyone in British secret service agreed that they should be doing this or that it could possibly work at all, without a tremendous blowup and backlash.Very Informative.- Excellent book!

Ben MacIntire's DOUBLECROSS is a dazzling look at the secret war, "the bodyguard of lies", that kept the Germans confused and off-balance in the run-up to D-Day. It is full of characters that would be too implausible in fiction: the bisexual Peruvian girl who partied through Paris, a Polish ex-fighter pilot, a crazy Frenchwoman obsessed with her lapdog, and the key player, a Spanish chicken farmer who used to run a one-star hotel in Madrid. The Germans thought they were all valuable spies embedded in Britain, and all were turned by MI5 and played as double agents.MacIntire does a terrific job with this material. At times you will be amazed at the denseness of the penny pinching British. MI5's refusal to bring a small dog into the country for a valuable double agent because such an action would violate the quarantine laws is a decision that will leave the reader gasping! Angry beyond words, the woman almost betrayed the entire operation. At times like that, the spymasters look like devious, miserable little men.This book should be read before AGENT GARBO by Stephen Talty, which expands on the career of Juan Pujol, Agent Garbo, the Spanish chicken-farming genius, giving much more detail of the role he played in orchestrating German confusion. Talty's book is also terrific.Both books wonderful additions to WWII spy literature.

This is Ben Macintyre's last book in what is stated to be his trilogy of WWII non-fiction British spy books (the other two being Operation Mincemeat and Agent ZigZag). Having read them all I would have to say this is his most ambitious and epic in scope although the other books are both well worth your attention. What we have here is the story of how Britain's MI5 controlled every single German spy in England with emphasis on the five most important double agents in operation "Fortitude". In fact MI5 controlled more spies than were actually alive as they created whole fictional networks of German spies. All of this lead to the greatest deception of WWII and perhaps changed history but no doubt saved countless lives during the D-Day landings on Normandy. The rhythm of Macintyre's narrative takes some getting use too as he presents five individual spies and their stories and it takes a while to introduce them , their backgrounds, and both German and British handlers.. But take it in stride because as you become familiar with each individual and their back stories I promise you that the suspense builds and your interest in each individual case and fate increases. The last chapter is a great epilogue that brings each significant character's (spies, MI5 handlers, and Germans) post war lives to light. Just one example: One of the spies, who before the war was a chicken hating Spanish chicken farmer living outside Barcelona, won the Iron Cross from the Germans... AFTER D-Day so total was his act of deception. If I have a complaint about the book... it would be that there is material here for several books (and several movies). But no doubt about it this is a history that is a very entertaining well researched true life story. And a tribute to those who participated in the deception, lies, immorality, friendships, ideology, loyalty, love and survival that ultimately resulted in the success of Operation Fortitude. Your understanding of the D-Day landings will never be complete without learning of a Serbian playboy, a Polish fighter pilot, a bi-sexual Peruvian party girl, a Frenchwoman who cared more for her dog than the mission's success, and of course that chicken farmer who ended up winning the Iron Cross.

Ben Macintyre is the master of spy non-fiction. This is another brilliant, fascinating and dramatic book. I knew that there had been many efforts to deceive the Germans about D-Day but I had not realized how important the role of double agents was--even to the point of Hitler reading reports from one such double agent personally. M15 seems to have been much better at spying that the CIA despite some bad lapses due to Communist infiltrators. This is one of my two favorite Macintyre books, the other being The Spy and the Traitor.
