A good text for reference purposes.pros:-thick pages make it durable, a plus for a textbook that is likely to become a reference book-lots of info on common minerals for reference-essential mineralogy knowledge is in there...-...the info in the book is on the internet but tends to be very scattered, not much mineralogy on wikipedia unlike biology, chemistry, common core classes, etc. search a few topics in this book and all you get is scholarly research pdf papers.. and you probably won't understand those or find them very useful.-it makes you feel smart to read it and actually understand it... although that can be time-consumingcons:-no color photos, although not really necessary, but the nice cover photo is misleading-NOT an easy reading textbook--info is DENSE and requires multiple readings and supplemental sources to really understand it...not many good supplemental sources out there-there are some essential and difficult concepts that the book just glances over in a paragraph or two, there should be a student guide to flesh out the info, although it would probably need to be many times thicker than the textbook itself...-mineralogy is probably the hardest class on the path to a BS in geology or related majors once you get through chem, calc, and physics.

I am currently in a Mineralogy class and this is the required textbook. So far, it has been a fantastic resource. At first I was very disappointed at its scarcity of pictures (I'm a visual learner) and entirely black and white pages, but I am grateful that the book didn't cost $250, as it most likely would have if the book had been illustrated and printed in color.I am a third of the way through the class and we have basically read most of the book already. It is easy to read, conversational at times. The parts explaining chemistry are easy to understand, especially if you have already taken Gen Chem, which was a pre-req for my class. The mineral indices in the back are really helpful for looking up identification methods (hand sample, properties, optics) and quick references to the cleavage, crystal classifications, etc for common minerals.Honestly, I don't have any complaints about this book. Considering there is a wealth of mineral information available on websites such as [...] or [...], this book has just the right amount of information to learn your stuff without being overwhelmed by the endless amount of learning available in the field of mineralogy.Also, things people don't usually talk about in reviews: this book is about an inch thick, sturdily bound and printed on high stock paper. It will hold up to several semesters in the geology department and it's not so big that you dread taking it to class with you. It's worth buying to keep, new or used, if you're a geology major or a mineralogy enthusiast.

THIS BOOK IS AWESOME! It its easy to understand, I read some chapters over. I am not a big reader but I needed to pass mineralogy. It helped me more than the newer book and at a FRACTION of the cost!!! BUY THIS BOOK. Information is almost identical. Just different page numbers but you will be able to find where you were at very very easily. The color index in the back of mine was in tact and was actually way better than the one the newer books provided. Just a thought. I loved it. It is the best book I bought all throughout my Geology Major!

The way in which this book is written is intuitive and fluid. Explanations are aided greatly by relevant figures. The miller indicies are explained quite easily and down to earth, so is the basics for crystal structure and formation. If you are an instructor looking for a mineralogy text, I highly suggest this one. The information is the same as from other texts, however it is presented in a manner that is easy to read, understand and reference.

The text is a bit dry and a considerable portion of it is just an encyclopedia of minerals. Certainly there's value to that, but the result is that the actual 'introduction to mineralogy' is crammed into as small a space as possible in somewhat dense technical language. I used it a lot in my course, but had to supplement it with online resources for many topics. Still, I'm keeping it as a reference.

This book helped prepare my 20 month old for her first time on a plane. I started reading it to her every day for a couple of weeks before our trip. She would often ask for it, too. Sometimes I would replace Maisy's name in with my daughter's name and replace the other characters' names with her favorite plush toy animals' names. Then during take off and landing (commonly the scariest parts of a plane ride), I said phrases from the book, like, "a little bump and jump and it lands," and she remembered the story and smiled. She actually enjoyed the whole plane ride experience. She still asks me to read this book sometimes, and I will start reading again more often when our next vacation gets closer to help prepare her again.

I bought this in preparation for my toddler's first airplane ride. I would say this is a book for a 3 year old or older, but worked good enough for my 2 year old. The book takes you through all the steps (airport to landing) of taking your first flight which is what I wanted. The illustrations are very colorful. My daughter has become quite fascinated with planes in the sky after reading this book so clearly she understood the main concepts.

Bought this so our son and daughter in law could prepare our grandchildren for their first flight. Unfortunately, Maisy's experience isn't quite like flying today.

I got this for my 3 year old granddaughters when I was going on a trip to visit other grandKids. I wanted her to know what I was doing. It was a cute story and explained to a small child the basics of an airplane ride. My granddaughter loved the story and told everyone her grandma was riding on an airplane!

Got this for my daughter and she really likes the book. It was good as it got her used to what to expect when we were going to travel. Even after our trip, she still enjoys reading it (or us reading it to her).

Actually, my two-year-old grandson loves Maisy stories. She has a window seat on her plane ride, so he wants to be at the window as well.Highly recommended. Little kids love Maisy.

My daughter loves Maisy books!She is 18 months, but has loved maisy books since she started loving books at 7 or 8 months old.We found these Maisy first experience books to be a wonderful way to introduce new experiences to children. We have Maisy Cleans Up, Maisy Plays Soccer, Maisy Goes Swimming, Maisy Goes Shopping. It's a fun and colorful way to introduce toddlers to new experiences so they become familiar instead of new and scary.

We bought this before out toddler's first plant tide and started reading it with her a few days before our trip. She loved it and it helped to reference maisy as we were walking through the airport, going through security, etc. it really does explain the whole process well, and it's still Kent of her favorites now that her first trip has find and gone. Highly recommend!!

I picked up this series on a whim and I’m not disappointed. While the story seems to have similarities to Overlord, the main characters are different in their approaches.Diablo has always been a solo player but now finds himself part of a group of cute girls who all need his Over Powered abilities.The internal monologue is always amusing but he seems to be a great Role Player as he knows just what to say as a Demon Lord from Another World.The girls are okay but a little too dependent on the male protagonist.

Great addition to the series. I would say better than than the first two, the stakes actually start getting real, and there are some darker moments which I liked. As always, the fan service is over the top sometimes, but it's used sparingly, thankfully.

It just gets better and better as you read more volumes. I enjoyed this volume especially since it means the next one is gonna come out which is my favorite. There's more battles in this one than previous volumes which is super rad.

I have purchased all the books prior to this one and each get better. Read both 4 and 5 in one afternoon and now hoping that 6 comes out real soon for now I will just reread all 5 again.

The cover art Made me think there was going to be some gender bending magic at play, but was a pleasant surprise. You can't judge a book by its cover.☺

If you like anime, manga or light novels in general, this one is worth the read. Not as overtly ecchi as the anime version, but still with it's funpoints

Placed an pre-order thinking it was the light novel based on clicking the image and it leading to the light novel, ended up with a manga I didn't want or need because they later changed the listing.

Rose is awesome and Diablo was a badass, enough said.

Some of the best shifter stories I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot! Great characters and a twist on the usual type of storyline. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

This series is so good, I have spent the last week reading it whenever I wasn't working! I felt as if I was in the story and could see and feel all of the characters. Was a bumpy ride at times. Very descriptive. I totally enjoyed reading this series!

I read all the books in this series, one right after another. Sofia Westlake did a wonderful job with all of it, the characters, the story line, describing the area. I almost want to move to that little town. Thank you for a great read!

The author built a convincing world of feudal shifters forced into the modern era. Pros: The characters evolved, and the stories were compelling enough to hold my interest through all 5 books. Cons: The sex scenes were too graphic for my taste - I ended up skipping a lot. There were too many annoying grammatical and proofreading errors that took me out of the story. The author really needs to learn when to use "I" or "me".

Great job for your money. Keeping your interest in the book making sure you have the best interest in making sure that the couples are able to get together and get the job done

What great writing! The characters were authentic and the intricacies of each person’s personality was great in each little detail.

This author manages to produce the most complacent and nastiest characters out there. I truly can't decide if her stories are brilliant or drivel. The characters are hard to relate to: they see a problem and do nothing or create a problem and the rest of the characters do what amounts to nothing about it most of the story. The suspense is unreal waiting for someone to do something right, but you're really waiting for someone, good and nasty characters alike, to have a redeemable quality somewhere and make a difference. You'll have to read the stories to believe me. And please, for the love of all that's holy, start tying up loose ends before ending the series.

Absolutely an amazing book! Every Catholic as well as Christians who are curious about the afterlife should (MUST) read this book! It lists many examples with proven documents, relics and stories that prove the existence of Purgatory. I am a Catholic and was curious about Purgatory. It doesn't seem to be taught or even spoken about much in the Church today. It is a little scary but also very comforting at the same time. If you have had a loved one who has passed on, you will want to read this book to know how you can very possibly help them. I have learned from reading this that Purgatory is a very real place and the souls of faithful departed NEED our help. This book will strengthen your faith and clear up questions you may have about Purgatory. I am NOT an avid reader but I could not put this book down.

Everyone should read this book.It makes little comment about teachings of the afterlife. It totally focuses on the hard evidence left by souls in the afterlife when they returned to this world.It does not preach or interpret; it presents evidence for your consideration.You will be unable to dismiss the careful selection of hard evidence it presents. This is no ghost hunt with a high EMF and whispered EVP.If you do not believe in any afterlife, read this and you will face some evidence that will rock your boat!!This is a must-have if you have any interest in the Paranormal or Ghost Hunting.Christian or not, you need to read this and look at the hard, certified information of the afterlife.Yes, Purgatory is talked about, but so are Heaven and Hell. And YOU will face them sooner or later.Let me explain, I was raised Protestant and was a conservative Protestant for 40 years before finding the teachings of Catholicism and I was compelled by reason and the Holy Spirit to join the Catholic Church for the rest of my life both now and in the afterlife. You will be uplifted when souls have completed their time and have peace. With no need to return to this world, they pass onward to God.But there IS HOPE in the afterlife! This is a hard conclusion: Even though many of us will spend time getting the stains left on our soul by our sins in this life, we will KNOW WITHOUT DOUBT this purification has an end and WE WILL BE WITH JESUS when we are ready.This we can be certain of: "Our sins have been fully forgiven; but stains of sin must be removed before we can be with God" And this is the message delivered by the souls undergoing purification who have been permitted by God to contact the people who are alive in this world. This book contains the records of a few living people and their irrefutable experiences with the souls undergoing purification. The book makes no claim to cover or catalog in any way all of the evidence of the afterlife. Nor does it try to extend its evidence to cover all ghosts or paranormal activity. It presents the only evidence of a few extraordinary contacts from the afterlife.It will strengthen you understanding of the afterlife or, more likely, change your world view.

I wish this excellent little book were not limited to a niche audience, but it is, and people have a right to choose not to believe. The principle of the book is that Catholic Christianity has it right. Humans are judged by God at death according their deeds in their earthly life. The few who are entirely worthy go directly to be with God for eternity. Those who are utterly unworthy by their unrepentant choices are eternally separated from the presence of God. But many, perhaps most of us, while not deserving of eternal separation from God, are not yet able to be in God's presence. For us, a time of purification is needed. That is the basis for the Catholic doctrine of Purgatory, the place of our purgation, which guarantees that all who experience it will in the end be graced to be with God eternally. It is within this framework that this book offers the evidence of history to catalogue the communications of souls in Purgatory to warn their loved ones still living their earthly lives of the need to repent. The stories and the artifacts described in this book are worth the consideration of every human person. What the seventeenth century mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal said of belief in God is applicable to belief in this book: their is no sound reason to disbelieve because if it proves in the end to be wrong it does us no harm, but if it proves in the end to be correct, it does us the highest possible good. Pascal wrote this in his little book, Le Pari, The Wager, and his argument was addressed to France's aristocrats, who were enthusiastic gamblers. His message was simple: Wager your eternal soul on this bet. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If that's not worth five stars, nothing in this world is.

In becoming more aware of the sufferings of purgatory and the real need for our prayers and sacrifices for their benefit. It has also made me want to live a more holy life,serving God with all of my heart, mind and soul. Praise be to our holy Trinity and to Mary and Joseph, all the angels and saints. Please pray for those who have recourse to thee.

This is a solid, across-the-board book on every aspect of the art if Ventriloquism.Despite what a few Reviewers say, the lesson on how we breathe is vitally important. Until you can breathe using your diaphram, your ventriliquil voice will be thin, and you will easy feel out of breath.As a practicing Vent for over 50 years, I greatfully and confidentally recommend this book.

While I am a practicing ventriloquist, I am always looking for ways to improve my craft. I have read many books and watched, "How To", Videos over the years and I have to say, this book has loads of information in it and I did pick up some good pointers to add in my own pursuit of excellence. This Book is all inclusive and I believe a must for any aspiring or even for the accomplished ventriloquist!I would recommend this book, especially to beginner Vents, as it covers not only the craft but how to get the all important, "Stage Time" and how to sell yourself, once you have attained the degree of proficiency you will need to actually begin to perform for people.I could not put the book down until I completed it and I expect I will use it as a reference for many years to come. I am in the process of re-learning ventriloquism. I bought two resources. One was the classic training program for ventriloquists, The Maher Home Course of Ventriloquism, and the other was The Complete Idiot's Guide to Ventriloquism.The Maher Course has always been the standard by which all other ventriloquism training has been judged. Most of the pros learned with this course.Then, along came The Complete Idiot's guide! I initially bought the Kindle version, because I travel a great deal. I Liked it so much that I also bought the print version! The instructions are very clear, and the author also helps you to develop ways to actually say "the impossible sounds", rather than just using substitute sounds.As I understand it, The Maher Course will soon be unavaialable. I think The Complete Idiot's Guide To Ventriloquism will fill that gap nicely. In fact, I think it raises the bar even further.Congratulations to the author for producing such a high quality product that will help ventriloquists entertain audiences for a long time to come!

I knew I wanted to learn ventriloquism, but I didn't know where to start. So I purchased a few books and was left clueless about many aspects of the trade. Then Amazon suggested this book by Taylor Mason. I saw him perform live a few years ago with Bill Gather and he was fantastic. Then I saw him on TV a few times so I decided to get the book.You can tell in the introduction that Mason is a highly educated man. The book #1 is well written. Some of the other books I got on the subject are written by Ventriloquists attempting to be authors, Taylor Mason is a Ventriloquist who is also an author.#2 Everything else about the book is amazingly informative. I could go in more detail but really why bother. If you want to learn Ventriloquism then you MUST buy this book. I've read others, looked online, bought the videos but nothing compares.When I practice I can easily find information if I need to review!And he gives advice for writing scripts and actually getting into the business.

I bought this for my 2 sons who have developed an interest in ventriloquism. This book was suggested by a ventriloquist from our church. They are working together to not only work up skits, but also to make their own puppets.

Covers all aspects of Ventriloquism including how to advertise, develop acts and possibly go professional.
