A must have for parents with a smart kid! I don't mean gifted, which your child may very well be (and this would be useful), but emotionally inteligent, inquisitive, and observant. It's for all those parents who just don't know what to do with their kid that is anxious, worried, or socially not getting it-be seem to "get it" in other areas. I am a professional counselor but when it comes to my own kids, it's a challenge, even with the education and experience! Why? Becuase my personal emotons and experiences are involved, and there is a unique family dynamic to each of our families. I found this book to be logical, practical, and useful-the tools are easy to implement. It's a wonderful book-I am impressed by the writer. I have already recommended to friends and it will recommended to parents of students who I work with.
This book was recommended to me by a friend of the author's and has been an extremely helpful read. Not only has it helped me understand where my kids' worries are coming from, but also how they process worry and how it manifests itself. I feel much more confident about how to parent my kids through their worries without unintentionally contributing to them. I've already purchased additional copies of this book for other members of my family.
This is a very simple, easy to read book that describes why gifted children worry so much. It describes emotional age, intellectual age, and physical age and how the gaps can create issues. Great read!!!
This book really helped me understand my anxious grandchildren in a new way. The explanations and the practical tips were very helpful.
Wonderful Book!!Thank you for helping us understand what is going on!
This book is eye-opening. It was recommended by the guidance counselor at our school, and it has provided so many insights about my son. A useful resource! Highly recommended!
Great insight.
Amazingly helpful book...wish I'd had it 5 years ago! Some things explained in the book were exactly what my 15 year old does and says, and now we know why. I highly recommend it.
