Yep, I purchased maybe a dozen books on organizing and the only other one that spoke to me is:Organize & Create Discipline: An A-to-Z Guide to an Organized ExistenceBut I got Marie Kondo's REAL book as soon as I heard about it and it has indeed changed my life. From a little kid, Ms. Kondo discovered that we're not taught how to declutter: we're supposed to just slide into it. Our folks just tell us to clean our room...but don't show us how. For disorganized people like me, it's not intuitive what to do; I keep thinking that I have to be more logical. But the author turns that on its ear: she says trust your instincts--pick up a thing you've been clinging to for years and check if it gives you joy. If not, let it go. Yes, the more you get rid of stuff you don't love, the more you'll be able to see, use and enjoy the stuff you do.Please don't let these exploiting knock-off authors pull a fast one on you. Get the REAL book.

So... I thought I'd try it. I read the book, made sense and I jumped in and cleaned my closet and organized it the way the book describes. I've never, in my whole life been able to keep my closed organized. But its been over a year now and my closet has stayed tidy and organized! I honestly can't believe it. But this method works for me!

The person who wrote this missed a couple of the major points in this book. First, the focus is on JOY, not decluttering, and that is a major difference from other programs. The author totally missed the idea that you MUST do categories in order, and that you cannot change the program. Ms. Kondo is quite adamant about that. Komono is never mentioned in this summary, and the Shinto aspects, like greeting your home when you return, caring for objects, proper folding, are all left out of this summary. If I were giving it a grade, it would get a C. The positives are that it is short and concise.

It was a little repetitive. And even though Marie talks about the things she learned throughout her life, I don't know that all of the stories from her childhood were necessary.

This book is really a great partner in purging your things. Especially if like me you are quit attached to them. I recommend it to everyone I talk to.

If you wan to follow the plan, you really should buy the book. But I found it a bit repetitive and somewhat annoying in spots. But the method works if you follow it.

Disappointed.. thought I was downloading the book.. it's only (like it says) a summary though. Didn't help one bit.

I have found keeping what I love is very different than getting rid of what I don't use or like. Halved my wardrobe immediately. I also did not get the folding thing at first but I have done it with my socks and I feel like I am putting them down for a nap by folding her way!

Fabulous book. New way to organize and have twice the space.

Short, but painful read that I couldn't really recommend, other than for a death and dying class. There simply isn't any preparation for losing someone you love. When you have lost your life partner, the intensity of the grief is magnified.In reading the reviews, it seems people are a little put off by the author's wealthy lifestyle. Making it somewhat hard to relate to at times. Nevertheless, we get a window into the strange twists and turns of the mind, as she attempts to grapple with the awful fact that her loved one is gone, a universal experience.

My husband died 02/20/2017. A friend recommended this book. It touched my heart - and hit a few nerves - as I shared this tale of confusion and pain. But in this reading, I gained insight into myself and my own unique grief. I learned that each of us have experiences that are similar and also totally different. I found myself recognizing many of my feelings in Ms. Didion’s book. Some of it was painful, but it was also freeing. I know that I will not magically “get back to normal”. I know that my life will never be the same - that I will never be the same person I was before. This wonderful book gave me hope and courage. I can forge a future for myself and still carry my memories with me. A wonderfully engaging book. A Godsend for me, personally.

I read this book after my healthy 67-years-old mother died unexpectedly from a massive brain bleed. She was visiting me, we were talking and sitting on my couch, and she just fell over. It still feels like a nightmare, and it's been been almost three months. Anyway, there are a lot of books out there to help with grief. You can find all kinds of self-help types of books on this topic, some written for adult children, some for surviving spouses. Mostly I didn't find them very helpful---neither did my dad. In addition to grief counseling, I would recommend this book highly to anyone dealing with a sudden death of a loved one.Didion's memoir helped me so much---her descriptions of her emotional trauma, and how she lived in the aftermath were spot-on and very similar to my own experience. I am usually very focused, detail-oriented; my memory is sharp. But since my mom died, I've been forgetful, unfocused, unmotivated. I felt like I was losing my mind. And I just kept thinking that if I could make it through the funeral, that would be the worst part. As Didion explains, that is NOT the worst part, or the hardest part---the worst and hardest things come later. Didion writes a lot about her own similar problems when grieving, and it was so good to know that it's not just me, and that it will get better. I bought a copy for my dad, too, and he devoured it and also found it very helpful---in fact he's mentioned several times how valuable this book has been to him. I know it's a memoir and not really a manual, but somehow, it has been something of a guidebook for us. I bought it on Kindle for me and a hardcover for Dad; I'm going to buy an extra copy to keep, just to have on hand in case a friend could one day benefit from it, too.Read this book if you are dealing with a sudden, unexpected death of a loved one. Or, give it to someone else who is enduring something similar. You won't regret it.

The Netflix documentary 'The Center Will Not Hold' inspired me to read 'The Year of Magical Thinking'. Such good medicine for a grieving heart. I'd bottled up much of that grief after having lost two very special loved ones to cancer and the dissolution of my marriage all within a period of two years. The documentary cracked my heart open again; the book encouraged me to start the healing process."I know why we try to keep the dead alive," Didion writes. "We try to keep them alive in order to keep them with us. I also know that if we are to live ourselves there comes a point at which we must relinquish the dead, let them go, keep them dead. Let them become the photograph on the table. Let them become the name on the trust accounts. Let go of them in the water."

Joan Didion's "The Year Of Magical Thinking" is a brutally honest recounting of the grief Mrs. Didion felt after losing her husband, John Gregory Dunne, after forty years of marriage. As someone who believes that "honesty" is the one essential quality every piece of great writing has in common, well then Mrs. Didion has hit the ball out of the park. Her writing is not only honest, but enthralling, and compelling. Yet, this is not the type of book I would recommend to everyone. For people dealing with grief or have experienced great grief one can easily relate and find a certain amount of comfort in the author's experiences, yet if one is in a happy mood or chronically depressed I would not recommend this book. It is a heart wrenching story and sometimes it is better not to disturb one's peace of mind.

There is no recipe for grieving and at times it's like your in someone elses house and can not find anything you need. Words, sentences you've spoken but can not remember. Thoughts, sights, smells, the physical body are stretched so thin it's beyond reality and fantasy.When my dearest husband died, I lost days, forget phone numbers, people's names, whether I showered. Reading this book provides me with somber reality that not just myself had entered the dark whirlpool of which I was too weak and lost to find my way out. This book as allowed me to read about my own road of grief... Which is not close to ending. AndSuperb book, thank you. M

Something about his daughter's teacher, Quinn, triggers a memory that he is not able to grasp fully and ignores after a while.Quinn is from a really loving home with four brothers and parents who loves are whole heartedly and only wants the best for her. Then she is home from college, pregnant and not sure of the identity of her baby's daddy to the surprise and shock of her family. But they never turned their back on her, instead they rallied around her and gave her the support she needed.Now with the loss of her older brother and her dad, her family is trying to save their farm and keep it from outsiders coveting their property. Then she finds herself face to face with the father of her child and not sure how to deal with it, or tell him that he has son. And the problems don't end there, but they are able to overcome each and every obstacle(s) thrown in their path and build a wonderful and budding relationship as well.What would Eli and Quinn do without Janice? Would they have gotten their chance together without her machinations and insight into their relationship?

This book was so bad I cannot find words for my disgust. Didn't connect with either hero not heroine. He was an ass who treated his four year old daughter so bad, that I wanted to call child protective services. That baby cried so much it broke my heart. Once the heroine entered the picture she did help the situation but she had her own issues with her treatment of her son and her horrible personality. She got on my last nerve. The plot was also a bit convoluted and never seemed to take off. I found myself just turning the page hoping it was over.

Most Eligible Daddy is on terrific storyline and plot, there is so many layers to Quinn & Eli's journey to their HEA that this book is one worthy of one-clicking and adding to your Kindle library. This book brings to the forefront how much Ashlee Price has grown as an author, this one will hook you from the first night soulmates meet at a masquerade party without exchanging names or seeing each other's faces. But, their heat was undeniable so it's no surprise years later when only a tattoo & mannerisms give way to memories that reignite the flame between Quinn & Eli. I don't really like using the 'ol "must read" comment but for Most Eligible Daddy by Ashlee Price I cannot stress enough that this one is a definite 'must read' no matter how cliche it is.I did receive an advance copy, ARC, from the author via BookSprout, the book was too fabulous to not purchase it myself and I also am voluntarily leaving my voluntary opinion with this review.

WOW - here we have a full length novel that is full of all different kinds of action!!! There are love scenes, familie in abundance, not one villain, not two villains, no there are a few willains which are quite refreshingly placed strategically throughout the story, and in the end we get always popular HEA !!! which only make the journey to get there I think all that sweeter, there were hardships, dangers, love, sweet scenes and everything else in between. Why four stars and not five? I just hardly ever give out five so I can preserve them for the most most precious of stories, so four stars is just fabulous!!!!

Loosing her virginity to a stranger, she has never seen, and does not know his name is not Quinn's biggest problem.Eli left the masquerade Halloween party after his encounter with the red head he came upon in the library not giving much thought to the redhead.Life has a funny way of bringing chance encounters into play.

This was a great second chance single dad romance. The characters are interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. If you like single dad and second chance romances, you will enjoy this book. In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.

Eli and Quinn’s story was a roller coaster without them even knowing. Fate did a number for these two by throwing a detour in their path before life brought them back together unsuspecting to boot. Was glued to the book until it was over. Hope you enjoy like I did.

Good story, overall quality of writing was also good. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ending. Intimacy scenes were really vanilla and tame.

You can see all those bright colors, smell the scent of spices and flowers around you; meeting people, finding yourself in the cosy restaurants, riding camel....Katrina is a great story teller. She slowly unfolds the events, making us guess, wonder, love, feel, smile. Yes, she braids in the sparkles of humor that make you love the story even more.It ia amazing how Katrina describes people, culture, traditions. It is a powerful book that will make you forget reality and put away what you were doing. The book takes you over from the first page.

Katrina 's sometimes joking descriptions of her adventures is fabulously entertaining. All the while she holds a tension of wondering what will happen. Having been in Egypt it was like being there again. Don't start reading it if you absolutely must get things done.😊 on the other hand it is a must.
